Data Executive
The opportunity
Innovation, insights, education, entertainment, networking… all terms that are synonymous with what we do at Easyfairs. As we continue to accelerate our digital transformation, we are looking for a Data Executive to join our central Marketing Intelligence & Technology (MIT) team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1–2 years’ experience working with data who wants to deepen their analytical skills in a fast-paced events environment. You will focus on running scheduled and ad hoc analysis across our visitor and exhibitor databases, giving our sales and marketing teams a clear picture of their data and the best ways to reach their audiences.
The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, a real passion for working with data, and meticulous attention to detail. This position is based in our Twickenham office, reporting into the Head of Data & Intelligence. The role is hybrid: typically 3 days per week in the office and 2 days remote once probation has been successfully completed. We are open to applications now, with an anticipated start date of 1 July.
Through its mission ‘visit the future’, Easyfairs is ambitious and driven to provide life-changing events for the communities it serves. With over 220 events, 28 000 exhibitors and 1.2 million visitors across 10 venues and 17 countries, we are one of the fastest-growing events businesses in the world, going from launch in 2004 to a global top 20 event company. More importantly, we offer a fantastic working environment in our Twickenham office and a company culture where talent and success are rewarded – and where having fun is one of our corporate values.
About the role
Easyfairs is a dynamic and innovative leader in the events industry. The central Data & Intelligence team sits within the MIT department and supports a portfolio of events across multiple regions, providing data and analytics to teams in the UK and beyond.
As Data Executive, you will:
Take ownership of regular and ad hoc analysis related to the health, completeness and usability of our visitor and exhibitor data
Provide sales and marketing teams with clear, operational insight into their databases: who is contactable, through which channels, and where there are gaps or opportunities
Help ensure that our data is structured and ready to use, so that campaigns can reach the right people via email, phone or other channels
The role is more analytical and diagnostic than list-building: you will spend much of your time exploring datasets, creating outputs and visuals that show the state of the data and how it can be used, rather than simply pulling one-off lists. Over time, this role could evolve towards a more insight-focused position as your skills and experience grow.
Key responsibilities
Run scheduled reports and analyses on visitor and exhibitor databases, monitoring data volume, completeness and contactability across channels (e.g. email, phone, postal)
Carry out ad hoc analysis requests from sales and marketing stakeholders, helping them understand the make-up of their audiences and the channels available to reach them
Use tools such as Excel (and ideally Alteryx and Tableau) to manipulate, combine and visualise data in a clear and meaningful way
Identify gaps, inconsistencies and issues in our data (e.g. missing contact details, low opt-in coverage, poor field completion) and flag these to the relevant teams
Support the design and delivery of data analysis dashboards that make it easy for non-technical colleagues to see the state of their data
Work closely with the wider Data & Intelligence team to improve data structures, standards and processes across visitor and exhibitor databases
Contribute to documentation and simple “how-to” guides that help colleagues interpret and use analysis outputs correctly
Provide occasional on-site support at events, helping to ensure data collection processes are followed and that data flows back into our systems effectively
Tools and systems
You will work mainly with:
Excel (advanced) – essential; confident with functions such as VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables, conditional formulas, and handling large datasets
Alteryx – preferred but not essential; experience with workflows for data preparation and analysis is a plus
Tableau – preferred but not essential; for building or updating dashboards and visualisations
SQL – nice to have; even basic query-writing will be a strong advantage
Our internal databases and systems, with full training provided
We do not require expertise in all of these tools from day one, but you should be comfortable working with data, confident in Excel, and motivated to learn additional tools quickly.
About you
You will be a great fit for this role if you:
Have around 1–2 years’ experience working with data in an analytical, reporting or operations role (more experience is welcome)
Are confident in advanced Excel, including manipulating and analysing large datasets
Are curious and methodical, with a genuine interest in understanding how data is structured and how it can be used operationally
Have excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, even when working with repetitive tasks
Are comfortable juggling multiple requests and working to deadlines, especially around busy event cycles
Can explain your findings clearly to non-technical colleagues, both in writing and verbally
Are proactive in asking questions, clarifying requirements and suggesting better ways to present or structure analysis
Are fluent in English, with strong communication and organisation skills
Bring high levels of energy, a positive attitude and a collaborative approach
A background in data, analytics, statistics or a related area (through study or work) is ideal, but we are open on industry – events experience is not required.
